Tornado season is upon us, and we want to educate, remind, and test our teams on handling inclement weather. The average time it takes for a tornado to hit an area after a siren call is less than 13 minutes, which means that our teams must be prepared to quickly and effectively follow safety procedures if such an event were to occur.

For the month of April, we ask all facility managers to please plan and conduct a tornado drill for each shift. We need to encourage people to take the drills seriously and to do it in a timely fashion.

The following links will give you plenty of talking points to cover in your pre-shift meeting, staff meeting, and any other opportunities that you may have throughout the month to talk about this topic. We recently witnessed some very tragic tornadoes in the south and want to make sure we are prepared. Jason is available if you have any questions. Both links have a Spanish language option as well.

In addition, we are sharing a local news story that offers the community safety tips in light of the upcoming tornado and severe weather season: www.ksnblocal4.com/2023/03/22/tornado-safety-how-stay-safe-during-storm.
